To stroll in the streets of the former Jewish ghetto is like time travelling. Apart from the synagogues most of the visible signs from the past have disappeared, so you need guiding to imagine the lively confusion of the huge Jewish apartment blocks, the big Jewish and Hungarian market on Klauzal Square or the small kosher shop in the side streets. After 2000 also real estate investors discovered the quality of this

central district and started to fill gaps with new buildings, what made the appearance of the streets very dynamic, when you can see a run down empty block next to a luxury apartment block. Nowadays you can find here again the biggest Jewish population in Eastern Europe and the district is full with cool bars and cafes, that makes it the “in-place” in the city.
